WHAT IS A VERTICAL OBSTACLE?

Vertical obstacles (obstruction) are objects of height, arising from the ground in the terrain or from the surface area of seas or lakes. They are man-made and capable of affecting or restraining the duties and routes of civil or military aircrafts that are commencing low-altitude flights, carrying out paradropping operations or landing. Vertical obstacles are;

  • Buildings, high antennas, chimneys, or towers, which stand higher than 30 meters outside of settlement areas and higher than 60 meters in the vicinity of settlements,
  • All overhead energy transmission & distribution lines, weight carrying poles, cable car or chairlift carrying line poles etc. which are built without any height limitations.
